The references contained in the title and within the painting almost too obvious to need further explanation. Dylan's lyrics acted as a starting point for me as I wanted to give a visual form to the universal habit of not seeing that which we ought to value and indeed are our best chance of happiness. So: "Once I held mountains in the palm of my hands and rivers that ran through every day but I must have been mad I never knew what I had I threw it all away." The words are very simple but profound and I would like to be able to do the same thing with my art.
